Call for papers to online Workshop on Challenges in Automated Meat Processing
Within the frames of IROS 2021, the workshop will be held on October 1, 16:00 – 18:00 CEST. The workshop will include a section dedicated to contributions from the IROS community. The goal of this workshop is to present the latest trends and developments related to food and food processing robotics, and to define the roadmap for future enhancements to these fields. COVID-19 significantly accelerated the transition to automated solutions in the meat industry as well.
The workshop covers many challenging fields of general modern robotization. The focus will be on meat sector automation applications, however, the discussed topics (e.g., deep neural networks for trajectory planning, intelligent end-of-arm tools, robot cell integration safety etc.) will be relevant for researchers and engineers of other robotics-related fields too. Since many use cases and applications are to be presented, especially high interest is assumed from attendees with an industrial background. The state-of-the-art solutions presented in connection with the RoBUTCHER project might inspire domain experts and university students too. Special attention will be paid to involve attendees and contributors from other geographic areas with high industry automation potential. The workshop will also address the expected social and ethical aspects of increasing automation in multiple sectors of agriculture.
Topical Focus
Robotics in the food-industry deems to be necessary to keep up with the challenges and demands of the 21th century. The goal of this workshop is to present the latest trends and developments related to food & food processing robotics, and to discuss the roadmap for future enhancements to these fields. Research and expert statements papers are sought in the overall topical area of food and agricultural robotics, including but not limited to:
• Mechatronics for agro-food
• Meat sector automation solutions
